OpenCode Console breach hit users who had linked external AI providers

AI coding agents

OpenCode, the open-source coding agent, disclosed a security breach
of OpenCode Console on 17 October 2026. The vendor's post, at 18:08
UTC, says the breach the night before was a large-scale distillation
attack and that it affected 1.4 percent of Console users: the subset
who had external AI providers linked. OpenCode named Anthropic,
OpenAI, and Google as the providers it was working with to remediate.
It said every impacted user was emailed that morning, and that a user
who did not get the email was not impacted. The incident was still
ongoing, and the post gave no root cause and did not say what data
was accessed.

StepSecurity's 18 October write-up quotes that statement and treats
the linked provider credentials as the thing at risk. That inference
is the lab's, not a vendor confirmation that tokens were copied.
The vendor scoped the breach to Console accounts with linked
providers, not to every install of the OpenCode CLI, and published
no affected version list. How the Console was entered is unpublished.
